Hello! I'm Sarah Crews. I live in Salina and am running for the 69th House district seat. I believe that an elected official should listen to and be the voice for the people she serves.

The Republican-led legislature in Kansas has fallen out of touch with the values of many Kansans. As a progressive Democrat, I feel it's time for a change in Topeka.

What I've learned

I work in the field of death, dying and after death care, and one the most important skills I have learned while working with people who are dying, and their families, is the art of listening. People from all walks of life die, and I have worked with many of them – Republicans, Democrats, Christians, Atheists, rich and poor– I have learned how to listen to what makes people’s lives meaningful, about what concerns them most, and about what really matters.
If I am given the privilege of representing the people of the 69th district in the Kansas House, I will bring that unique and compassionate skill to the job of representative. 

Concerns I am hearing from you
​and that I support include:

Protecting reproductive rights. Expanding Medicaid and access to affordable healthcare. Ensuring that rights are accessed equitably regardless of economic status, gender identity, sexual orientation or skin color. Fully implementing the sales tax cut on groceries. Fully funding public education. Protecting soil and water resources.
​Promoting continued growth of renewable energy.

Women and Families

The legislature should not be making deeply personal decisions for women regarding when, if, and with whom to start a family. To ensure this didn't happen we voted no in August on the constitutional amendment.

Teachers and Education

Kansas is facing an unprecedented teacher shortage. Many teachers feel that the job of educating our children has gotten "too political." Excellent public education is essential for a functioning Democracy. I support fully funding education to retain quality teachers.

Farmers and Environment

In the face of increasing climate extremes, I support the development of water smart crops and farm management techniques, protecting soil and water resources, and in-state processing and marketing of Kansas farm products to keep family farms thriving and profitable.
